Someone needs sleeping pills real bad~
I was about to sleep yesternight. But an unannounced event happened.
Was bugged into sleeping at 1:30am and so I indulged myself into various kinds of dreams. Dreams that include cycling under a block and saw my friends having a party -___-"

8:00am ++
Woke up to the sound of my father's students reciting Quran on the computer. Wow. Classes already started early in the morning. That was just a brief moment though. Head dropped, eyes closed. *ahlam saéed*

9:30am
Realised that I was late for Tahfiz classes. Got up and texted Alim, telling him to inform my Ustaz that I'll be late. Showered, packed, went off less than 20 mins after waking up. Real flash in action. Reached Sultan Mosque around 10am.
Luckily, I wasnt the last one to go off. Lol.
Im done with AlMaidah! *marha marha* But not starting on a new surah yet.
Went to library afterwards to return two fat, boring books.

6:38pm
Syafiqah reminded me of the review we were asked to do. O_0 Robb! I totally forgot. Clipped an article on the Jakarta prison issue where prisoners were given privileges and luxury. Completed the review after Maghrib with growls from my tummy.

Im done with Geog, Ive passed up Chem, I did my review and Im starting on Maths tutorial 3. (Arithmetic and Geographic progression, easier than I thought it would be.) :D

Would you rather do something fun or watch a baby poop?

p/s: If you readers notice, I didnt say the salaam before starting my post. That is because Ive written the salaam on the the middle table there >>> So I count that as a Salaam given everytime you people enter my digital territory here, which is my blog.

Academic or Ukhrawi
Saturday, February 20, 2010 8:01 PM
Attended the parent teacher meeting for the Sec 5 students today. It was held in the MPR. I was there to receive the SmartLab award thingy. Improvements from Sec 4 grade in Elemental Maths. What I gained from the shraing session is about deciding wether to continue in Ukhrawi or Academic studies. For those who already decided to plunge themselves into the Academics only, or Ukhrawi only, then there's no problem as far as I'm concerned. But for people like me, who want to have both Ukhrawi and Academic knowledge, there will definitely be a crucial decision in the making.

I was told, that in order to have a balance in both Ukhrawi and Academics, we are recommended to do Ukhrawi first as it is the basics of our life. And breaking the journey by going to JC or poly, is not a good thing.

BUT, although I am now in JC, I did not break that connection to Ukhrawi studies. Alhamdulillah, Im still continuing my tahfiz. Alhamdulillah, I have learned very much about what Muslim guys that have no religious background think about Islam. They have the interest in knowing about Islam, but they either dont know where to go, shy or because of other reasons.

So, Im am clear that in JC, I play the role of sharing what I have learnt in Irsyad. Alhamdulillah, I see many Muslim guys, that didnt attend Friday prayers the week before, approached me and Arif, asking wether are we going or not. So that shows, that we have an important role to play.

For those who dont know, I am planning to continue in my Ukhrawi studies after having a stable job using my Academics. Thats a good thing I guess? InsyaAllah.

Allahu Hafiiz.

Updates

Sooo okay...
Had a good week. Thursday was still slacking, JC standard. We had lecture on P.E. The teachers briefed about FlashMob, NYAA and stuffs. I was at the back, impatient for food. Didnt concentrate much. We listened to a talk on attire and some stuffs. Didnt listened attentively though. Did Maths with Daniel. Hahaha. Thursday was also the start of Physics, Chemistry and GP tutorials. GP was nearing the end of the day, right before the last subject Malay Lang. Finished school at around 5:40pm. Pfft. Joined the crowd of IJC students walking towards Woodlands MRT stn.
Today, had the first Maths and Geog tutorial. Maths is fun. Really. I enjoy Maths. Geog was tiring. My brain was trying to accept the already refreshed plate tectonics. Da revise berulang kali and I feel like erupting. Prayed at AnNur and went to school afterwards. Naufal wanted info on JC. So yeah. Im willing to contribute. Haha. Tomorrow, SmartLab award. Must be in school at 8:30am.

A mystery remains though. Long dragging hours in Irsyad never cause my body to feel very lethargic. But the tension in JC is not at its maximum but already, I'm feeling very tired everytime I reach home. Maybe Irsyad provides the berkat of learning ugama. Haha.

Okay.
Done.

Tutorials
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 10:12 PM
Had a long break, full of boredom and lonliness.
Woke up a bit late today. Was lucky enough to get past the automatic swivel gate which automatically locks itself at 7:50am. Today was the start of tutorials. Tutorials are some sort of class. There are tutorials and lectures. Had PW first thing in the morning. Then GP lecture and then, Malay tutorial. Malay was fun. All Malay teachers are fun eh. Fun and funny.
Anyway, the homework load finally gone, I can now brush up on my O level topics.
Okay done.

Ten things we waste
Friday, February 12, 2010 5:23 PM
TEN THINGS WE WASTE:-
(taken from a lesson of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah)

Our Knowledge: Wasted by not taking action with it.

Our Actions: Wasted by committing them with out sincerity.

Our Wealth: Wasted by using on things that will not bring us benefit. We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in akhirah.

Our Hearts: Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allah, and the feeling of longing to go to Him, and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it's place, our hearts are filled with something or someone else.

Our Bodies: Wasted because we don't use them in ibadah and service of Allah

Our Love: Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allah, but towards something/someone else.

Our Time: Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds

Our Intellect: Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are useless to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection.

Our Service: Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah, or benefit in this life.

Our Dhikr: Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts.

Accessing a 'new situation'
Thursday, February 11, 2010 2:26 PM
Its NOT EASY, but its NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
I was blinded all the while. Cloaked by good and stained by the lesser evils. But the cloak is just a cloak that will eventually get penetrated by the tougher stains.
Now that Im aware, and that shame of oneself is already living in my heart, Im washing the cloak and am trying to not get it stained by any sort of evil.
I hope that Allah will show me the right way through. Allahu Hafiz.

(Im not a literature student. Excuse my ugly language :))

Stay on the straight path of Islam
Saturday, February 6, 2010 2:58 PM
I was searching for advices online and I found this on a web. This advices were meant for Muslim students studying in the West. I thought it would be relevant to those who is or will be studying in JC or POLY. Specially for all of you, S509.

BE MINDFUL OF ALLAH SWT:-
- Excel in our observance of Allah SWT in all our dealings.
-Understand that He keeps watch over you, sees you and encompasses all that is of concern to you - wherever you are.
- He knows the treachery of your eyes and all that your heart conceals.
- Strive not to let Allah SWT see you, except that He is pleased with you.
- Do not be unmindful in your observance of Allah SWT otherwise Satan will infiltrate you and you will be overcome by the whispers of your whims and desires.
- Believe that whenever a heart is conscious of Allah's observance, it will never be approached by Satan.
- However, once it departs from Allah's awareness, evil will be attracted to it and it will be inhabited by whims and desires.
- So, consolidate your heart with the observance of Allah and in vigil seek refuge from your surroundings and do not be among the unmindful.

BE STEADFAST IN OBLIGATORY DUTIES:-
- Perform the obligatory duties which Allah has enjoined upon you, at their appointed times. No one draws nearer to Allah with anything more beloved to Him than performing the obligatory duties as stated in the hadith of al-Bukhari. Do not neglect them by relying on performing them at a later time, because you are busy with work or resorting to other excuses for justification. This is a deception of your own self and of your own whims.
- Spend whatever time you can in performing the sunna prayers. Increase your appeal for forgiveness and the praising of Allah SWT.
The Prophet (saw) advised Ali (ra) to continuously dampen his tongue in the remembrance of Allah. Do not abandon that path which leads you to duties and obedience.
- Increase your recitation of the Glorious Quran with understanding and deliberation. It is a healing for the soul and a comfort to the heart. Designate from it a portion to read at the beginning of the day and a portion to read at the end of it, hence the best beginning and the best end.

THE WORLD AND HEREAFTER:-
- In the delights of life and pleasures of the world, you will see that which inclines the heart, impresses the mind, attracts the eye and bewilders those whose spirits are weak. Be aware that in the sight of Allah SWT all these pleasures lead neither to honor nor virtue.
- So do not be amongst those who favor the worldly life over the Hereafter, or amongst those deceived by the outward appearance of things without considering their essence.
Avoid the worldly aspects of these people; do not let it take over your command and deceive you, if you are to be among the successors.

LEADING BY EXAMPLARY:-
- Calling the people through practical examples is far better than calling them through speech. It is far more fruitful and beneficial to use your commendable character, the perferction of yourself and your straight manner to defend and call them to your religion. Do not be apprehended by their stance, because Allah’s aid is with those who are sincere.
- Be positive and do not insult other people’s beliefs instead, elucidate (explain or clarify something) to them their innate goodness and reveal to them our beliefs. By doing so, you will have adequately (sufficiently) promoted awareness and incentives.

Note: I edited the original one cause it contains sentences such as 'my dear brothers' etc. This was actually some sort of letter to the Muslim students studying in the West by Hassan alBanna.

Back to school
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 4:58 PM
Today was the start of lessons.

We got our schedule for lectures. This week and the week after, we will be having lectures only. I heard that we will be assigned to civics group, some sort of class, according to our subject combinations. However, it may not be having 100% same subjects. Syafiqah has the same combo as mine cause she is taking almost the same subjects as me. The only difference is that she has Econs for H1 and I have Chem for H1. And what's pathetic? Out of the 500+ fresh faces, there are only 4 people having the same subject combo as mine. Is 5 people enough to be a class? Ofcs, but in JC?
So, I found one of my classmates through eavesdropping. Wasnt me. Nabilah Md Johan eavesdropped some people talking and she heard that this particular guy is taking the exactly the same subjects as me. He's japanese. Moshi moshi.

So first up, we have GP lecture. The lecturer was just introducing us to the monster GP. Its what he call it. Monster. He persuaded us, or rather tried to persuade us that GP is not as difficult as what we thought. What appaled me was the 500-800 words need to be written within 1 and a half hour. Dreadful. My handwriting will go all squiggly, and my brain will become all wiggly.

Then I attended H2 Maths lecture.
We learned how to use the GRAPHIC calculator. And we already started on polynomials. Maths terms make me miss Mr Rahamat. Hmm...We were expected to do the tutorials. This means, ADDITIONAL MATHS.

Both of the previous lectures were conducted in LT1. (LT means lecture theatre) Geography was next and it was conducted LT3. Didnt manage to buy the lecture notes. That doesnt matter though. Today is just about introductions. The lecturer in Geog was a Malay lady. Miss Nafisah. (at last, a name I can remember) Basically, H2 Geog is no big difference from O level Geography if we studied Pure Geog which everybody in Al Irsyad Instistute will be studying. Only that there will be no topic on veggies (vegetation), rivers will be without coasts and plate tectonics will include rocks. Tourism was thankfully banished.

Physics. The important thing that we have to bear in mind is UNLEARN & RELEARN. We we told to rebuild our basics to support the more complex stuffs physics offer in the A levels.
Like for example: In order to replace a one-storey bungalow with a 3-storey one, we need to rebuild the base in order to withstand yeah, the extra 2 storeys. Okay nvm.
So, we studied MEASUREMENTS. Yes friends. MEASUREMENTS. Back to the 'mass is in kilograms with the SI unit kg'. Yes. That. In a lecture theatre. The japanese guy fell asleep. LOL.

I was free from 12:40 to 2:40. Didnt have any lectures. Hahha. Prayed Zuhur. Civics was...I didnt quite pay attention. It talked about the Innova crest, mission vision and stuffs similar to that. I needed to poo poo. Didnt have to go to Maths Bridging. Although its advisable for those who scored C5 0r C6 in Add Maths. Huahuahua.

We ended at 3:40pm. Most of the JC1s do. But the bus that passes outside the college is only available 4:30pm onwards. At around 4:10pm the girls and I was just exiting the school when we saw the busstop full of JC1 students. They didnt know that the bus will come at 4:30!! Hahahaha! They waited for about half an hour for the bus! So I approached them and told them the painful news. Shock and regret were vidible in every faces. Wooo. Ill be famous. The bus boy.

Then there was this convo I overheard:

Malay Boy to Malay girl: Tu la kau! Confident sangat ade bas.
MG 1: Bukan aku pe. *blames MG2*
MG 2: Mane la aku tau..
MB: Banyak kau punye "have faith" laa, "sure come one" laa..

Lol. Luckily I decided to inform them. Sebelum tego tu ade bisikan hati yang nak tengok dorang suffer. Selasih suggested leaving them. Ishishiiish..

Update on yesterday's mass dance:
1- Dah jadi tempat macam Zouk or whatever tu. Tidak ada batas pergaulan lelaki perempuan. Dengan lampu die da macam kat disco. Not the discoball. The dimness. (intensity of light measured in 'candela'. Huahua.)
2- Sesape yang nak masuk JC, primarily to the Sec5s in Irsyad, you have to be strong.
3- And dont give me or anybody the excuse tak boleh escape. I escaped. I survived. It is just a matter of asking and negotiating.

Plans for tonight:
- Add Maths x (10!)^2

Donedonedonedonedone.
