4 days on an island that is 3 times bigger than Singapore with no clue how to get back. For the past few days, I was away in Bintan, facing experiences of my life, climbing up Gunung Bintan, planting mangroves out in nowhere, visiting sea gypsies and listening to their stories, sleeping in hot tents and wake up perspiring, bathing in toilets with no locks or worse, no doors. Nonetheless, I enjoyed most of the times doing the activities planned for us. And for the first time ever, I experienced a real campfire on the beaches of Bintan, riding on bumpy buses that battled the snaky and dangerous roads. Believe me, some of the roads are inclined at about 20 degrees and the bus sped along that road to avoid toppling over. Kecut perot. The food there was more than enough. Seriously. I never felt hungry instead, always felt full. Unfortunately, Arif wasnt with me. It would make things a lot more fun. And it would be fun if this year, Ikhwans can manage to go there for holidays. But please, book a resort. I learnt so much from the trip. It made me appreciate my life better. From the toilet to the bed to the food and to the people around me. Hmm... And having to see the hard lives of the sea gypsies, and still seeing them smile, its proven that everybody have their own problems to face. And those who survived are those who make their troubles their happiness by thinking positive. And people are never thankful enough for what they have. Its never enough. Now, I have PW clinging on to me, holiday assignmments tracing my footsteps, and fatigue, powered by laziness bugging me. To those Poly Ikhwans and Bukharoxies who are having or will have their exams, all the best! :D Till then. Wassalaam. |
